Kindness means harboring a spirit of helpfulness, as well as being generous and considerate, and doing so without expecting anything in return. Kindness is a quality of being. The act of being kind often is simple, free, positive and healthy.
Kindness has been shown to increase self-esteem, empathy and compassion; decrease anxiety and stress; and improve mood and relationships.
Through this program, you will be invited to extend kindness to many aspects of life, including:
- Co-workers
- Community
- Environment
- Home and family
- Neighborhood
- School
- Yourself
How it works
During this monthlong program, you will complete as many activities as you'd like from the list of nearly 100 ideas. Choose the activities that work best for you, and complete them when it works best for your schedule. You can participate on your own, or with family, friends or a group of students. Ensure you follow COVID-19 safety recommendations when completing activities.
Two ways to participate
Select the way to participate that works best for you:
- You pick.
With this option, you download the checklist and select which activities you'd like to complete. As you complete each activity, check it off the list.
- It's a surprise.
With this option, you download activity slip sheets. Cut out the slips and place them in a jar. Then pull out a slip from the jar each time you want to perform an act of kindness.
Register
As soon as you register, your monthlong journey will begin. You'll receive a welcome email that includes instructions and links to the downloadable checklist or activity slips. You'll also receive a few motivational emails along the way and be invited to complete a simple evaluation at the end of the program.
