About us

Kristin L Larson

Founder

Today, I reflect on my journey towards creating a mental health resource and advocating for those who need a voice: Simple Kindness. Inspired by the lack of resources and education in mental health, my sister's idea sparked the action I took. Through small acts of kindness, we can brighten someone's day and contribute to changing the world, one act at a time.

At the age of 20, while pursuing my 3rd year of Pharmacy School at SDSU, Brookings, South Dakota, my life took a turn due to a predisposition for mental illness inherited from my mother, who battled Bipolar disorder untreated. With unwavering support from my sister and  family, I navigated a challenging 10-year journey of mental health facilities and treatments. Moving to Fargo, North Dakota, to live with my aunt became a pivotal decision that ultimately saved my life.

For 35 years, I kept my mental health struggles private due to fear and stigma. Today, I embrace my journey, ready to share my story to support and inspire others facing similar challenges. It only takes one person to make a difference — to love, support, and never give up. Let's continue to break the silence and stand together in support of mental health awareness.
